Hi, dear Ani. I also called my senators, governor and representative. Thanks for sharing my writing. I'm feeling more energized than I did yesterday!

I am without words, my friend. This piece is brilliant! From the personal to the unexpected political. I think of Waiting for Godot: your piece would make a great preface. I hope you’ll consider submitting it to a bigger platform, like the Opinion section of the NY Times.

Thank you, Rachael. It took a while to get the right tone. I'm grateful for the opportunity to speak my mind which is currently on high alert.

I don't know how you do it, Susie. Situations such as the one you address here leave me without words, at least until I don't have to face whatever-it-is head-on and right now. I agree with Rachael re this deserving a bigger platform and hope you'll do something about finding one!

Thank you, Marjorie. I have not enjoyed my previous forays into "the big world," but you never know. I'm grateful to be heard by the community of people who consider my writing. The presence of concerned readers is palpable.

I get it! Just a thought. We, your readers, are honored to be part of the community you have created here. It's deeply grounding.

Tough but true. And the comparison to RBG is sadly accurate. Which goes to prove that even well intentioned liberals get caught by their own egos. Personal psychology appears to "trump" political ideology. What's worse, is that this is not just about aging. It could well be a cover-up regarding the suggestion of a Parkinson diagnosis. And this is too weirdly reminiscent of Charlie Sheen on West Wing when he attempts to hide his MS from the public. As the saying goes: Truth is stranger than fiction.

I didn't want to speculate on actual diagnoses though I agree that something might be seriously wrong. I wanted to keep it simple by stating as an older person (78) that I have a sense of what the President is and is not capable of. I thought it was remarkable when he said he didn't want to work after 8 pm. We deeply need an energetic, vigorous person to defeat Trump and to occupy the White House at a time of tremendous challenges on all fronts. It's a scandal that Biden's health has been kept secret.

Right there with ya!

Thanks for your words. Getting old sucks…but it beats the alternative. Joe has been great but we, at this critical moment, must do better.

Yes and we who are his contemporaries may know this better than anyone.

Thank you for saying this. What is also so troublesome is how lied to I feel. The proverbial *they* truly believe Americans are idiots and buffoons. Look how France and England--no great shakes when it comes to world powers these days, came to a bit of more sensible decision. Us, here in America, sigh.. I just don't know.

I agree. We've been reduced to catch phrases. I see Biden is now calling people who want him to bow out "elites." I can't believe it.

Thanks for a piece that hits he bulls-eye on the mess we’re in. I agree with every word. I hope you get it to a wider audience. I know I will be sharing it. Thanks again.

Thanks for passing this along, Betsy. Some times I just start to froth at the mouth.

One tiny quibble: I don't think waiting is necessarily ALWAYS a power grab. Sometimes people get stuck somewhere, in traffic for instance, or some problem comes up and they can't get to us on time. I know most people text now, so that means less of an excuse, depending on what the problem is.

Of course, we must make allowances for unavoidable snafus. But you probably know people who are routinely late and don't seem to have a clue that the other person's time has value. When I wrote this piece, I was feeling like the Biden camp was one big "I lost track of the time" excuse.

I have the impression that they think time will simply go away if they just keep up their cheerleading and telling us that he's the nominee.

WOW! You sock it him so powerfully. THANK YOU, SUSIE. I will share your piece widely.

I've written to Biden to step down, and put the same on Jill's FB page and I called my Senators and wrote my Congressman. I encourage everyone to do this. So much is at stake and our voices need to be hears.

Thank you Susie! Once again you say it just right! Please try for a public forum. I sent emails to both Joey and Jill, but they came back saying my message could 'temporarily' not be received (at whitehouse.gov). Hmmm... at what time, and in what forum would our messages be welcome? Yours is so well written - it needs to be shared with many!

Thanks, Signe. That's always a challenge for me but I'm open to suggestion.

I am Canadian and join you, my friends, in hand-wringing and fear for the future. So many opinions. So much pathos. So much tragedy in the world now, in my opinion. I am grateful to you Susie for your thoughtful reflections that seem to be providing a place where we can meet, and groan and exult together. I am so disappointed in Joey.

More exulting would be welcome. I hear a lot of people are calling their Democratic senators and governors. I think that's a good idea.

Excellent! Let's contact our representatives and let them know how we feel.
