Whether to leave or not after 50 years is a big decision. Meanwhile, I love that here is where your mother's ashes have fed the soil and produced so much that makes you smile.
What a beautiful, lyrical meditation Susie. So much life and color in this painting. I love reading of your grandson, your mother's ashes in the earth, the journeys and the settlings. I love you and your once-Manhattan mouth!
Thank you, dear Jinks. I feel so fortunate to be able to express complicated experience in words and have them resonate with others. Otherwise, all that feeling just splashes around inside and no one knows about it. Words are such a gift...as are you!
Such a beautiful piece. I don't hear the call of the west so feels like I have arrived at the last stop on my journey. I do hear similar rumblings from some of the transplants like myself here in S. C. but for me, I'm contentedly letting my feet take root in the marshy soil of the south, while remaining open to the unknown future.
It's all about the journey, not about the destination, as they say. So interesting that you ended up in SC. Did you get my email last week? Really wanted to touch base.
Ah, so lyrical and vivid. Thank you, Susie.
How wonderful to see you here, Lee. Wishing you many blessings.
Beautiful.
Much appreciated, Marilyn. Your reading means so much.
It’s a highlight.
A wise and beautiful meditation on life, as is all your writing. I look forward to reading every week. Thank you.
It's been wonderful to get into that rhythm of writing. Thanks for following my preoccupations.

Thanks, Jan. I wisely saved a portion of her ashes just for this contingency. I can bring them along.

A divine piece that stirs my soul. Thank you.
Very kind of you to write. I see a wider angle now.
A lot to absorb, think about and digest. A gift. Thank you. I will read it again. And then another time too.
Wonderful. Please let me know if your take on it changes as you read it more than once.
So beautiful, Susie. I love the way you capture with metaphor the deep yet elusive.
Thank you, Laura! Everything that's worth pondering slips through our fingers, don't you think?
Deftly written as always Susie. Thank you for this lovely meditation. I read it to Tomma, she enjoyed it too.
And may the seeds be with you.
So glad to have you and Tomma among my readers. And thank you for hearing it as a meditation.
Lovely. Thanks!
Trying to hit that sweet spot between yearning and saying yes.

Thank you thank you!
Thank you for reading and breathing it in!
It is a huge question that has only just appeared on the horizon. Meanwhile, the exploration sounds joyous and filled with flowers.
