Why do I always tear up when I read your posts? I think it's just because my heart is opening. What a gift, Susie. Thank you as always. -Pam

A neighbor here lived in Minnesota for a while and worked with indigenous people. (She does that here too.) She met Tim Walz at some event involving the Ojibwe (sp.?) and liked him very much. She kept saying how comfortable he seemed to be with everyone and "He's a real person! He's a real person!" So that was encouraging and I am excited that he's on the ticket.

My daughter-in-law says the same thing. After all that "I'm the greatest this and the greatest that," the humility really strikes me.

I'm with you on global patriotism. I was so happy that the Filipino guy won men's gymnastic gold! He covered his face as he wept for joy. Being American can make you feel like a Goliath.

Thanks, Marsha. I can only take so much competitive posturing.

Laughing about more Steve Allen less Sullivan.

Joyful Warriors are contemporary to historical. Refers to Kamala and Tim Walz. 🙀

National Night Out reminds me of simpler times when the nation got together every Sunday evening to collectively watch Ed Sullivan and when every kid in the land tuned in to the Mouse Club after school. Given the macroculture then, I’m utterly grateful for being right here right now with all of your readers and the Joyful Warriors!

Explain about Joyful Warriors, please. I seem to be missing something. Possibly because I watched Steve Allen instead of Ed Sullivan. Always a little out of synch.

"Bill McKibben, Robin Wall Kimmerer, Terry Tempest Williams and Rebecca Solnit, not to mention Jane Fonda, Bernie Sanders and John Kerry, stepped up and spoke passionately about climate and how we have an obligation both to our ancestors who brought us to the party and our descendants who are inheriting this exquisite fragile and wounded world." And they have been warning and begging us for so many years. Still we persist--in our acquiescence to gangster capitalism.

It’s not so much the fossil fuels in my opinion as it is the whole system that we are in thrall to.

Agree. And lifestyle and convenience are hard to alter in us humans.

I am with you all the way, Susie. I hadn’t heard the line from Gov. Walz about what his Lutheranism means, but I believe him. I thin k he is a real person, too, and I’m glad you can now call him”yours” with the rest of us Minnesotans! I just wanted to mention Marchan, the French best swimmer in the world - what a pleasure to watch him, as well as the Chinese synchronized divers the other day. The beauty and skill make me proud to be human.

So good to see you. Everyone says the same thing about Walz...he's a real person. That seems to be a rarity! I loved Marchand, as well. I don't think I saw the synchronized event, but the Chinese women divers were exquisite. Thank you for the last sentence of this comment.

Thank you for articulating what I have been feeling but unable to put a clear finger on and speak about. And too was on the GrayPAC ELDERS call.

I don't know if you felt this way, but for me it seemed like I was an outsider, an ingrate. I thought the GrayPAC call was inspiring and there I felt like I belonged.
