I love the narrator's voice, and could so relate to the shopping trip for the impractical but gorgeous blue dress. And that granny-to-be could not have foreseen that Olivia would become the teacher. A wise and beautiful story! Thank you.

The passage of time is fabulous - from that blue dress to that black skirt, she has become your teacher. Absolutely gorgeous I recently learned the Yiddish word "kvell' from my friend Judy - and in this piece, this is what the narrator does. Loved it.

A story that touches one's heart - it looks back and it looks forward with love and hope - I'm sure readers feel for you and for Olivia because of how you painted this picture - I can testify - I was in that recovery room and this work transported back to that time and place - I have to take a minute to pull myself back to the present - good work Paula

A lovely, beautifully written story. I can "see" your granddaughter as she is now! Next time you go to Holt Renfrew, try the Jo Malone grapefruit perfume. Or Pomegranate. Both glorious.

Ah, so I'm not the only one who enjoys a free sniff of an expensive perfume in a fancy department store!

I even (gulp!) buy Jo Malone and then faint with excitement...

Lovely writing!
