Holy calamari, Bat Ray, what a trip! I broke into a sweat just with the airport section of your story.
I feel for you about both your sis and the new life. What an adorable baby! Such a time for her to come.
Bless you Susie. Thanks for the stirring and wonderful slice of your calamitous journey out west. Happy birthday to you both. Welcome home. And welcome to life little Madelyn. What a cutie.
Life just keeps coming, doesn't it Jim? You are among the readers who imagined themselves in the airport imprisonment with a sense of horror. It must be a basic nightmare. Really appreciate your reading.
I am so touched by the raw truth of this. Life in all its messy, heartbreaking, glorious moments shared with the angels we meet along the journey. Thank you!
What an amazing piece. I so appreciate how attentive and alive you are to your inner life and to what's around you. And that, with it all, you keep a sense of humor and awe.
What a glorious, visceral, heartbreaking, heart-opening account of your time with your family, Susie, and of the angels in the airport. In and out indeed. So evocative of the mysterious gifts of love and loss
I guess what I meant was I am inspired and moved and compelled by your stories and the meanings you make from them, and your embrace of vulnerability and paradox. It leaves me wanting more, as I do when I’ve finished a particularly good book. I don’t want to part with the characters and the author’s lens. So am I asking for your book?
I still have a few copies of Twilight Time: Aging in Amazement. Also available from Amazon and on order from your local bookseller. If you want a copy from me, I'm delighted to arrange for that. Vulnerability and paradox would be what the chefs call the "flavor profile."
Thank you, Jill. I think this time of expansion and contraction in the universe is unleashing all sorts of gifts, don't you? I admire your paintings so much.
Oh Susie.....you have such a gift of capturing the multicolored, messy, sorrowful, sacred and joyful moments of life! I felt every minute of it with you....fighting back thoughts of all that I lost and all that I will never have, but at the same time keeping my heart open to a fellow pilgrim’s personal journey of blessings and loss.
You succeeded in making me cry--all the losses--all the miracles. It breaks and opens the heart.
It's a deep pool, dear Peggy. It doesn't seem to have a bottom.
You show true vulnerability at the same time paint a perfectly clear picture of life It leaves me thinking of the past and praying for the future
Sorry your birthday was spent in concourse D, I hope you got to have some sort of redo once arriving back at home
We had a great redo dinner last night. The future needs your prayers. Thank you again and again.

Been there more than once in my years as a freelance photographer. Notably in Turkey which added the lack of uncaring, non-English speaking people.

Thanks, Nancy. I wanted to acknowledge that what we're called to do, to be...is not easy.
What an amazing piece. I so appreciate how attentive and alive you are to your inner life and to what's around you. And that, with it all, you keep a sense of humor and awe.
Thanks, Ani. The humor is essential, but tricky. There's a fine line out there.
Raw, moving, beautiful. Life just keeps happening.
It's taken me a while to get to raw. It's kind of a gift without wrapping.

Beautiful and wise. Leaves me wanting more.
I would be very grateful for any direction from you concerning what more would look like.

Yes, I’d love a copy from you. Please advise.
I sent you a message on FaceBook after friending you. Didn't want to do emails on Substack.I think it should be accessible on FB. Thank you!
